The UMPG family is proud to present songwriter Mary Steenburgen. An Academy award-winning actress, Mary Steenburgen has an undeniable passion and talent for songwriting that has guided her towards working with chart-topping artists. Signed by Universal Music Publishing Group's Monti Olson after hearing a demo, UMPG set up co-writing sessions for Steenburgen within the Nashville songwriting community arranged by UMPG Nashville's Whitney Williams. The Arkansas native was welcomed by the Nashville songwriting family and co-writes with Matraca Berg, Lori McKenna, Barry Dean, Troy Verges, Shooter Jennings, Hillary Lindsey, Darrell Brown, Luke Laird, and Shawn Camp soon followed.

Working continually alongside the UMPG Los Angeles and Nashville teams and collaborating with other UMPG songwriters has led to successful placements on major projects. These projects include "Rainbird," an original song for the film Dirty Girl, and "Fall Again," which appears on Matraca Berg's latest critically-acclaimed release The Dreaming Fields. Mary Steenburgen was a co-writer on Lori McKenna's Christmas song "Wish List," working alongside Barry Dean and Troy Verges. Steenburgen has a number of songs written for the Nashville TV series, Outlaw Country, which she stars in; this includes collaborations with Shooter Jennings, Troy Verges, and Hillary Lindsey.
